Pulling out your phone, opening apps, and actually typing out words? That was so last year…apparently. As 2016 comes to an end, we’re excited to announce that Todoist now works with the Google Assistant!
The Google Assistant is a conversation between you and Google. You can ask your Google Assistant questions and let it help you get things done. Now, it will let you have a conversation with your Todoist too! Capture tasks the moment they come to you, and keep track of everything you need to get done without ever having to open the app (or even reach for your phone).
Here are some of the things you’ll be able to do with Todoist + the Google Assistant on Google Home.
Start with – “OK, Google, let me talk with Todoist“, then:
- Add tasks with due dates – “add a task to ‘pick up the kids’ tomorrow at 4pm.”
- Complete tasks – “complete my task to ‘pick up the kids’.”
- Have the Google Assistant read you your tasks – “what do I have due today?”
- Check on your next upcoming task – “what’s my next task?”
And a whole lot more. Todoist’s smart date recognition will automatically recognize and add any due date or recurring due date you say. It will also ask if you want to further organize your task by adding a label or priority level or specifying the project you want to add it to.
Where can I find the Google Assistant?
Right now, you can talk to Todoist + the Google Assistant on Google Home — the voice-enabled speaker powered by the Google Assistant. In the future, Todoist will work on all platforms you can find the Google Assistant — like the new messaging app Google Allo.
We’re extremely excited about what the advancements in voice-controlled technology like the Google Assistant will mean for Todoist users — less worrying about forgetting things, less effort spent managing your tasks, and more time spent focused on the important things. When you can spend less time inside the Todoist app and more time accomplishing real things in the world, we consider it a success.
This release is just the start. As always, we’ll continue to improve how Todoist works with the Google Assistant to make it even more relevant in your life. If you already have Google Home, try Todoist with the Google Assistant and let us know what you think in the comments below!
